Hi everyone! Thank you to those people who have visited the new official Dusty Petals website and have contacted me about my services and provided general feedback. I'm excited to introduce Dusty Petals to a new platform.
You will probably have noticed retailers previewing their spring/summer collections amongst the pretty blossom forming on the trees. It is such a beautiful time of the year.
The Nautical trend is one that often reappears in the warmer seasons and that is exactly what was presented down Resort 2014 collections. Designers put a modern twist on nautical, the classic cruise motifs and stripes. Chanel and Marni showcased seaside-inspired looks with hint of vintage. Check out some of their work at the bottom of this post.

There is nothing more chic and polished than a classic nautical inspired look. I have styled some ways for you to take on this trend below.

Modernising Vintage

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share with you the idea of combining vintage fashion with current trend pieces. I feel this is the best way for you to stand out from the crowd and to create a point of difference from the popular trends. Finding the right vintage piece can take more work but the result is so rewarding, as you know the style will be unique to you. To ensure a true original piece of clothing, I like to do a nip and tuck to modernise the piece and ensure the fit is perfect and relevant.

Below I'm wearing a vintage top that is part of a skirt and top suit. I was drawn to the neckline of this garment. I tucked it in for the look below however it has a gorgeous scalloped hem and looks cute worn over skinny leg pants too.

I have sourced some vintage tops for you below from the very reliable I have styled them with on trend pieces as a suggested way of incorporating a vintage piece without looking like you have stepped out of St Vinnies.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello lovely people! I don't know about you but I am sick and tired of winter and am impatiently waiting for the warm weather to arrive. It'll be nice to get some vitamin D from the actual sun as opposed to my morning capsule.

I know it might seem like an eternity away but I thought I'd share a hot trend to enter spring; the ever so reliable 'stripes.' In fact the stripe trend will continue into the fall collections on the other side of the hemisphere. It's all about combining vertical, horizontal, criss-cros and diagonal stripes. The more combinations in one outfit, the better, I say.  While spring explores stripes in bright, vibrant colours, fall take a more subdued approach with flattering shades, making it easy to incorporate into your look.

I have styled some stripy looks for you below. I encourage you to have some fun with this 'stripy' trend and experiment with the endless combination possibilities.
